Pay for your car hire by Mastercard or Visa, EFTPOS, or cash; a 3% surcharge applies to Mastercard or Visa payments. An additional sum is required for a security bond when you pay with EFTPOS or cash. In most cases, this will be the excess applicable unless you have chosen a zero excess option where a small bond will be required for additional days, fuel, and admin charges.

Yes! You can hire one of our
Northland car rentals and return it to any RaD city or airport depot on the North Island. However, this is subject to availability, a minimum length of hire may apply, and you may need to pay a one-way fee.

Things to Do in the Bay of Islands
Explore a bounty of marine life such as whales, penguins, and dolphins - if you participate in an approved tour, you could even swim with dolphins! Here in the far north, we’re a top sailing destination. You can find many charted day trips with lunch included, or hire a boat for a few days and navigate the beautiful anchorages. Waewaetorea Bay is an idyllic anchorage where many sailing trips pause for lunch, a kayak, and snorkelling. The Bay of Islands is the perfect central base for exploring Matauri and Te Ngaere Bays - excellent for surfing and sun and just a short drive away.
Travel along the rugged west coast and enjoy the tranquillity of the Hokianga harbour settlements. First, explore the surf beaches along the Twin Discovery Highway and the volcanic splendour of the Whangaroa Harbour. Next, visit the white sandy beaches in the Doubtless Bay region. Finally, take a trip up the Aupouri Peninsula to see where the Pacific and Tasman Oceans meet at Cape Reinga.
Obviously, we’re biased - we love it here! But that’s not to say that we don’t cherish trips to some of the stunning beaches and harbours scattered around Northland’s coast.
