The Karekare Falls are a leisurely fifteen-minute walk from the beach - or, you can take the La Trobe trail from the car park. First, you’ll pass the striking Opal Pool Stream Cascade before being hit with the stunning views of the Karekare Falls.

This region is part of the Karekare Regional Park, where you’ll find a small campsite, several walking trails and picnic areas.

The Arataki Visitor Centre offers free entry for visitors. Uncover Maori carvings, learn about local history and engage in interactive displays. While you’re there, get your picture taken in the iconic golden frame.
