• Minimum Age – You must be at least 19 years old to hire a car with RaD Picton. You must hold a valid New Zealand or International licence.

• Domestic Licence Information - All hirers must have a driver's licence to drive a motor vehicle. Drivers on restricted licences – please check with the branch concerned as acceptance of and T&Cs for restricted licence holders varies by branch and some locations do require you to have a full licence.

• International Licence Information - International licences are accepted, as well as all English written licences. If your licence is not in English you will be required to have it translated into English before we can hire a vehicle to you. Note that a NSW or Queensland digital driver's licence can NOT be used to hire a car in New Zealand, you must bring your plastic licence with you.

• Additional Drivers – you can add any number of additional drivers to your booking. Simply pop into any RaD branch nationwide and show us the additional driver’s licence to add that person to the booking.

• Baby and Booster Seats - all branches carry baby seats and booster seats and vehicles are fitted with anchor points. Pricing is all available online so please add any item to your booking or ask when booking via phone.

RaD Car Hire’s branches nationwide are franchised and, as such, individual owner-operators set the appropriate insurance liability, excess reduction rates, bonds, credit card security and conditions for younger drivers or licence categories.

• Refer to your quote, confirmation email and/or rental agreement for the specific insurance excess liabilities, excess reduction rates and any surcharges if you are under 21 or on a restricted driver’s licence.

• Please note that not all branches permit hirers on a restricted licence to hire their vehicles, and some branches may hire only selected vehicles to hirers who are under 21 and/or on a restricted licence. Please check with the branch before placing a reservation.

Our fleet which comprises of new and nearly new vehicles all, as is common, have an insurance excess. All the vehicles deemed as Cars have a $3000.00 excess, and all the vehicles deemed as 4WD, and Commercials all have a $4000.00 excess.

With both vehicle types we have different cost options available to reduce your excess liability, the options for reduction can be chosen when you go through the booking process but it is important to note that in the case of the vehicles with a $4000.00 excess there isn’t a Zero excess available.
