Taupō airport is located 8km south of the town centre next to New Zealand's largest lake, Lake Taupō. Flights in and out of the airport are operated by Air New Zealand and Sounds Air. Air New Zealand operates flights daily from Auckland to Taupō return. Sounds Air operates flights daily from Taupō to Wellington return.

·       Minimum Age – You must be at least 18 years old to hire a car with RaD Taupo.

·       Domestic Licence Information - All hirers must have a driver's licence to drive a motor vehicle. Drivers on restricted licences – please check with the branch concerned as acceptance of and T&Cs for restricted licence holders varies by branch and some locations do require you to have a full licence.

·       International Licence Information - International licences are accepted, as well as all English written licences. If your licence is not in English you will be required to have it translated into English before we can hire a vehicle to you. Note that a NSW or Queensland digital driver's licence can NOT be used to hire a car in New Zealand, you must bring your plastic licence with you.

·       Additional Drivers – you can add any number of additional drivers to your booking. Simply pop into any RaD branch nationwide and show us the additional driver’s licence to add that person to the booking.

·       Baby and Booster Seats - all branches carry baby seats and booster seats and vehicles are fitted with anchor points. Pricing is all available online so please add any item to your booking or ask when booking via phone.

RaD Car Hire’s branches nationwide are franchised and, as such, individual owner-operators set the appropriate insurance liability, excess reduction rates, bonds, credit card security and conditions for younger drivers or licence categories.
