Our Rental Car Pick-Up Process

RaD Car Hire Queenstown

If this is the first time you are hiring a Queenstown rental car, here are a few pointers to help understand the process, which should help you make the right decisions for your needs.

So what is the rental process at RaD Car Hire Queenstown?

Rent a Dent make a booking process

Step 1: Making a booking

This can be done over the phone (+64 3 441 4320), or online www.radcarhire.co.nz

You will need to know the following in order to make a booking;

  • Know your rental car pickup time and date, as well as the drop off time and date
  • Know your kilometer requirements. A short hire (less than 4 days), is likely to have
    limited km's
  • Know the type of rental vehicle you will require, ie New or Used, smallest cheapest, medium size sedan, station wagon, people mover or 4WD SUV....make sure it will suit the number of people/luggage you will have or if you need a Trailer
  • A Full (unrestricted) Drivers License is required, as well as for any additional drivers
  • A Valid Credit Card is required. Payment however can be made with Eftpos or Debit Card
  • Age may determine the level of excess required on the vehicle
  • After hours fees may apply. Office hours are 0830 - 1730 monday - sunday

Step 2: Collect the Rental Car

We have a number of rental vehicle collection options;

  • Directly from our RaD Car HIre Queenstown office located at 5 McBride Street, Frankton, Queenstown
  • Queenstown Airport. Call us from the Freephone Kiosk inside the Terminal building [Dial 12], and we will then collect you from the pick up/drop off location in front of the Departures hall. Once you have phoned or collected your bags you exit the building keeping the road and taxis on your left and the building on your right, you heading back towards the departures hall. Just to the left of the entrance is the pick up point. It takes us about 2 minutes to get there from the time of your call
  • Your Hotel. Call us from your hotel in Queenstown on 0800 73 68 23 to make a booking and we'll collect you for a small charge if within the Queenstown Village area
  • RaD Car Hire Queenstown will walk all our hire car customers through the inspection process to ensure all damage is noted before they drive out of the lot. If your vehicle does not afford you the opportunity to check any damage on your car, do it yourself and email it through to them at queenstown@radcarhire.co.nz. That way you will have a time stamped backup to refer back to, in case of any discrepancies.

Step 3: While on hire

Familiarize yourself with the Term and Conditions on the reverse of your Rental Agreement. Should there be any changes while you are on hire be sure to let RaD Car Hire Queenstown know as soon as possible. This would include but not limited to;

  • Damage or involvement in an accident;
  • Breakdown or any mechanical issue;
  • Needing to extend your hire for any reason
  • Tyre damage if you are unable to repair [Be aware that tyre replacement as a consequence of damage are for the hirer's cost]

Communication is the key in this situation, as there might be a knock on effect to any of the above mentioned.

Step 4: Returning the Hire Car

Make sure you return the vehicle at the specified time. In most cases we do give an hour's grace, thereafter additional charges can be added. Again, let us know if you are running late.
