The Rental Car Hire Pick up Process 
RaD Car Hire Auckland City, Rent a Dent

Our rental car booking process is straightforward and convenient. Hire a rental vehicle from us now. Just follow the steps below. 
 

Step 1: Making a booking

This can be done either online or over the phone. Speed up the process by thinking about what you need before you start your booking.

  • How long do you want to hire a car?
  • What type of rental vehicle are you looking for? A small car, a station wagon or a people-mover?
  • How much luggage do you have?

Step 2: The paperwork

You need to present a current driver’s licence, as well as the driver licences of any additional drivers.
You also need a valid credit card. The credit card holder must be present when picking up the vehicle. Otherwise we cannot hire out the vehicle. 
You must take out insurance. Your age makes a difference to the insurance excess you must pay but you have an option to reduce the excess by paying an additional amount per day. Ask about this when you come in.
Tertiary students need their student ID if wanting the tertiary discount (10% off, unless booking online where there is already 10% discount)* Yes, this is the same deal offered by Rent a Dent Auckland City - we're just recently changed our name.
 

Step 3: Checking the rental vehicle

By allowing you to check the vehicle for any pre-existing damage before you leave RaD Car Hire, you can ensure there are no claims against you at the end of the hire for damage you didn't do. At RaD Car Hire Auckland City  we walk you through the inspection process to ensure any damage is noted before you take the car. 

If you do not get this opportunity, do it yourself and email it through to us before you get underway. That way you will have a time stamped backup in case of any discrepancies.

Step 4: While on hire

Let us know as soon as possible if anything happens while you are renting a car, such as:

  • Damage or involvement in an accident.
  • Breakdown or mechanical issues.
  • Needing to extend your hire for any reason.

 Step 5: Returning the Rental Vehicle

We ask you return the vehicle at the time specified so we have time to clean and prepare it for the next hire. On your return, we will do a quick and simple body check of the rental vehicle to ascertain whether any damage has occurred.

Remember to return it with a full tank of petrol. If that is not possible, we charge an extra $30 on top of the petrol costs to fill it up for you. We need to do this to cover the time involved  in taking it to the petrol station ourselves.
